New Year’s Eve
Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 8:00 pm
Hosted by WWFM’s David Osenberg
Strauss: Also Sprach Zarathustra (opening)
Offenbach: Voyage to the Moon
J. Strauss: Viennese Blood Waltz
Liszt: Les Preludes
James Bond Medley – arr. Stanley Black
Sing Sing Sing: Louis Prima – arr. Bill Holcomb
Gershwin: An American in Paris
We leave the earth again with Richard Strauss’s attention getting opening to “Also Sprach Zarathustra” (as heard in the film “2001 a Space Odyssey”), and a quick (premature) “Voyage to the Moon” by nineteenth century French composer Jacques Offenbach. Then, back home: Imagine yourself in Vienna’s Musikverein as you listen to a beautiful Strauss waltz and Liszt’s stirring Les Preludes; London’s Royal Albert Hall for music from James Bond films “Thunderball,” “From Russia with Love,” and “Goldfinger,” a New York club for Sing Sing Sing, as made famous by Benny Goodman (with a surprise), and in France for George Gershwin’s timeless “An American in Paris.” Gather some friends, go out to dinner, and join the Capital Philharmonic for some fun and uplifting music. Be part of one of Trenton’s most popular and beloved traditions – make it a night to remember!
There will be a pre-concert performance 7:10 – 7:40 featuring Brett Miller on the Great War Memorial Möller Theater Organ.
